We are excited to welcome yet another community into The Cab family – the Freestyle Skateboarding Community!
From Saturday 9th May, Grim will be bringing Freestyle skateboarding to The Cab every Saturday, creating a relaxed and welcoming space for skaters, newcomers and anyone who simply wants to hang out, have a chat and be part of the atmosphere. Alongside skateboards and merchandise, there’ll be coffee, soft drinks, music and a place to meet like-minded people in the heart of Newport.
The idea is simple: to create a friendly hub where people of all ages and abilities can feel comfortable. Whether you are an experienced skater, someone who used to skate years ago, a complete beginner wanting to learn, or just interested in the culture and community around skateboarding, everyone is welcome. Too often young people – and even older people with alternative interests – struggle to find affordable, safe and non-judgemental spaces to spend time. We hope this becomes another corner of the Cab where people can connect, learn new skills, build confidence and become part of something bigger.
If you want to know more about Freestyle skateboarding, tricks, equipment or how to get started, Grim is your man.
This is just the beginning. Over the coming months we hope to develop the project further with workshops, guest speakers, demonstrations, skateboarding trips, film screenings and community events celebrating skateboarding culture, creativity and DIY spirit.
We’re really looking forward to seeing this new community grow at the Cab. Pop in, say hello, grab a coffee and see what it’s all about.
