It’s been another busy few weeks at Reality Theatre, despite the summer heat!

Our Monday morning Community Theatre group has been making fantastic progress on our next original production, The Downfall Party – an experimental musical performance inspired by the Seven Deadly Sins. We’ve now completed the character development, finished the script, and have moved into rehearsals, with singing, movement and dance bringing our wonderfully flawed characters to life. It’s shaping up to be a bold, funny and thought-provoking piece, and we’re excited to see it continue to evolve over the coming weeks. This week, Grim popped in and stayed to help – the flamingo costumes are nothing to do with the performance, but it was fun anyway! 

Meanwhile, our Creative Writing & Expression sessions with the women at the Nelson Trust continue to be a real highlight. Recently we’ve been exploring character creation, imagining personalities and motivations for people, animals, and even everyday objects. It’s been fascinating to watch stories emerge from the group, with each participant bringing their own unique perspective and imagination. The creativity, humour and openness in these sessions have been inspiring, and I’m thoroughly enjoying being part of the journey.
