How We Operate

Reality Theatre is a Community Interest Company (limited by guarantee), operating as a not-for-profit organisation at the heart of our community. Every decision we make is rooted in social purpose, not profit.

We are proud to receive support from a range of funders including the National Lottery, Arts Council Wales, the Postcode Lottery Trust and others, who help sustain our core work. Alongside this, any income we generate through performances, gigs, events, commissions and paid delivery is reinvested directly back into our programmes, our venue and our community. Nothing is taken out as profit — it all goes back in.

We are acutely aware of the financial pressures facing many of the people we work with. In the current economic climate, keeping our sessions accessible and free is not just important – it is essential. We continually work to keep other costs as low as possible, so that gigs, shows and events remain open to everyone.

Governance & Leadership

Reality Theatre is guided by a dedicated board of four directors – three executive and one non-executive – alongside a community representative who contributes to our planning and organisation and ensures the voices of our participants are heard at governance level.

Together, the board brings a wealth of professional expertise spanning IT, HR, teaching and lecturing, research, project management and extensive experience working with people with disabilities. This is combined with strong backgrounds in theatre, drama, film, music, production and the wider creative industries.

This blend of professional skill, lived experience and creative passion ensures that Reality Theatre remains well-governed, forward-thinking and deeply connected to the community we serve.
